Hi. My neighbor, Charley, passed away a few weeks ago and I still feel his presence. When I step outside my apt, I expect to see his face and chat for a few moments about anything. Charley was street smart and protective. He was sort of the building bouncer, watching out to keep the place safe and livable. He was in his 50’s, had a car accident, a heart attack, and then died. Today I spoke to my friend’s mother, who is approaching 90. She has lost ALL of her friends, including the one neightbor that she saw every day, went shopping with, chatted with, and was always there to help her if needed. My neighbor, Charley, would probably be really surprised by how much I think about him and miss his presence. Just knowing that people really care can change your life. Now is the time to tell people how you care. I have to remember that each day.
